After 13 years, the Atlanta Dream are finally back in the WNBA Finals, with Angel Reese and Co. now chasing the franchise’s first championship. Standing in their way are the Golden State Valkyries, who are also seeking their first title after joining the league in 2025. But with the Dream preparing for the biggest moment in their history, one Atlanta fan was left surprised after a Nike store chose Caitlin Clark over the Dream in its own backyard.
During a recent visit to the Nike Store at Lenox Square in Atlanta, the fan found Indiana Fever star Clark’s merchandise prominently displayed while the Dream’s gear was tucked away in a corner. So, taking issue with the setup, she called out Nike for seemingly giving Clark’s collection priority over a team heading into the Finals.
“Y’all would not believe, they’ve got Caitlin Clark stuff here in the front,” the fan said while pointing towards a rack of Clark Fever jerseys and some of her signature apparel laid out on a table, as per a clip shared by @shooter4_22 on X. She then walked over to an area behind Clark’s stand and said, “Atlanta Dream stuff barely in the corner. Make it make sense! We are going to the WNBA Finals; why y’all ain’t switch [places]?”
She then gestured back and forth between the Clark section and the Dream section and said, “Put this there, and this here, with more Atlanta Dream merch. This is crazy! I’m at Lenox Square, and it’s just insane to me. I know they got her shoes, but come on, y’all. Why are we over there in the corner? Put us up in the front. Give us some more merch. Come on, Nike. I love y’all. Can we do that, please?”
Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever saw their 2026 season come to an end in the first round of the playoffs. Reese and the Dream, on the other hand, swept both the Washington Mystics and the New York Liberty to secure their place in the Finals. Yet, despite Atlanta’s postseason success, Clark’s merchandise still occupied the prime spot in the store. So, why the difference? The answer may have less to do with Nike overlooking the Dream and more to do with the business behind the merchandise.
In March 2025, WNBA shared an Impact report from 2024, where they revealed that Clark ranked as the league’s top seller across Fanatics’ network as jersey sales surged 801%. She trailed only MLB star Shohei Ohtani. And that kind of demand helps explain why her merchandise continues to receive prominent placement, even when Indiana is no longer playing.
Now, that does not mean Atlanta’s own merchandise business has gone unnoticed. The Dream ranked second in retail growth last year and finished among the league’s top five teams in overall retail sales. The franchise has also taken steps to build on that momentum this season, partnering with Monarch Commerce to expand its merchandise operation and introduce new apparel, including a Nike uniform and an Atlanta-inspired collection.
The Dream are clearly building a stronger presence both on and off the court. However, while their historic Finals run has given fans another reason to rally behind the team, Caitlin Clark’s established commercial draw remains difficult to ignore.
It is also worth noting that Nike recently launched Clark’s first signature shoe and apparel collection, which could be another possible reason for the prominent Clark merchandise.
The Finals now give Atlanta a chance to capture its first championship with an opportunity to turn its on-court success into greater national visibility. The demand from fans is already evident. More than 42,000 people were reportedly in the queue during the Dream’s presale for Game 3, highlighting the excitement surrounding the team’s historic run. So if Atlanta can carry that momentum onto the biggest stage, the attention may soon extend beyond the court and into the merchandise racks, too.
