The Taliban announced that 134 families, comprising 636 people, were forcibly returned to Afghanistan through various routes yesterday.
Hamdullah Fitrat, the Taliban’s deputy spokesperson, said in a statement on Sunday, October 18, that 93 families, comprising 421 people, entered the country through the Nimroz border.
According to the statement, 24 families returned to Afghanistan through the Torkham border, while another 17 families entered through the Spin Boldak crossing.
These returns come as Afghanistan faces widespread poverty, unemployment and an economic crisis, with many families struggling to meet their basic needs.
The forced return of migrants in recent months has heightened concerns about whether returnee families can access shelter, employment and essential services in Afghanistan.
