Not much was going right for the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday evening against the Seattle Kraken at Climate Pledge Arena through the first 40 minutes of the contest.
The Kraken had built up a 3-0 lead and held a 22-11 shots advantage as the final 20 minutes began. However, the Red Wings found a spark that eventually enabled them to gain a valuable point in the standings.
The Red Wings battled their way back in the third period with three straight tallies, including the game-tying goal with just under 17 seconds remaining, to force overtime.
Unfortunately, the comeback wasn't quite complete, as the Kraken outlasted Detroit in the shootout following a scoreless overtime.
Secured a point.

Viktor Arvidsson got Detroit going with his fourth goal of the season at 6:25 of the third period, followed by a power play goal from Lucas Raymond 59 seconds later. For Raymond, it was his first goal of the season.
The Red Wings then pulled goaltender Daniil Tarasov and, with just 16.3 seconds left in regulation, it was Alex DeBrincat knotting the score with the 300th goal of his career.

Following a scoreless overtime, the Kraken got goals in the shootout from Frederick Gaudreau and Bobby McMann, while Arvidsson was the lone Detroit goal scorer.
During regulation, Seattle's scorers included Mackie Samoskevich, Ryker Evans, and Brandon Montour, while goaltender Philipp Grubauer finished with 22 stops. Tarasov turned aside 24 shots for Detroit.
While it ultimately wasn't the result the Red Wings were looking for, they can feel good about the comeback effort that gained them a point in the standings and take that momentum with them for their next contest on Thursday evening against the Vancouver Canucks.
