DIMAPUR: Naga National Funeral Committee (NNFC) has expressed gratitude to the general public, well-wishers, churches, organisations and all those who extended support following the passing of Naga National Council (NNC) president and national leader, late Adinno Phizo.
In an acknowledgement, the committee thanked all those who offered condolences, prayers, solidarity, financial contributions and other forms of assistance. It also appreciated the media fraternity for its extensive coverage and role in documenting the solemn national occasion.
The committee specially acknowledged the Nagas of Kohima, Angami Public Organization, Kohima Village Council, Angami Youth Organization, Northern Angami Youth Organization, Kohima Village Youth Organization, Khonoma Rüffüno Nagaland, Kohima Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Angami Baptist Church Council and traffic officials for their logistical support, assistance and cooperation in ensuring the smooth and dignified conduct of the funeral.
The NNFC said the contributions and gestures of goodwill had helped honour the life and legacy of the late leader and accord her a dignified farewell. While acknowledging that it was not possible to thank everyone individually, the committee placed on record its sincere gratitude to all who stood with the bereaved family and the Naga people during the solemn occasion.
Recalling that a rainbow appeared in the sky as the funeral cortege reached the leader’s ancestral home in Khonoma, the committee said it interpreted the occurrence as a manifestation of God’s presence and affirmation at a poignant and momentous time for the Naga people. It said the rainbow carried a deeper meaning connecting the past with hope for the future, adding that the committee remained steadfast in God’s covenant and faithful to His promises. The committee concluded by praying for God’s blessings upon all and eternal peace for the departed leader.
