If you haven't noticed, Gap is on a tear recently, and while the pants, shirts and jackets have gotten a lot of the attention, you'll be hard-pressed to find a more comfortable hoodie at any pricepoint, and especially one with a Golidlocks fit like this has.

A bit more fitted than the classic Carhartt hoodie, the WIP standby is super soft, as tough as you'd expect considering provenance and even breathes a bit, too, without sacrificing any warmth in the process.

J.Crew makes a few great hoodies that come in under $150, but the best of the bunch is the '83 Fleece Hoodie, which is soft and broken-in while still being hardy as hell. In other words, just like the vintage ones, but without 43 years of wear.

You know that delightfully weathered hoodie you stole from your dad or brother or the like, the mythical one that all subsequent hoodies fail to live up to, which somehow is no longer in your possession? This is that hoodie.

Reigning Champ has lorded over the ever-shifting world of sweats for years now, and even as the contenders line up and file into place, there are but precious few that can even land a jab on the long-standing, heavyweight terry-constructed title holder.

When it comes to sweats, TS is best known for the long-running Champion collab, but the main line hoodie is next-level, too: super soft, not stuffy or restrictive, easy to care for and fairly maleable when it comes to sizing.

It seems like anyone with an Entire Studios hoodie swears by the heavyweight, slightly cropped hoodie, despite the exorbitant pricetag—well, that pricetag is no longer exorbitant. Or at least not in this case, because this one's now just $80.

At 15.8oz, the fleece on this zip-hoodie is hardy enough to get some use as a jacket this fall, but it's not so heavy as to preclude it from layering duties during the depths of winter.

I had a Uniqlo hoodie that I wore religiously for a decade—the fit was great, it had just enough weight to the fabric and the hood swallowed me up in the good kind of way and not the bad kind of way. Anyways, I need a new one.

Made in the US, faded in exactly the right places and done in a midweight, 100% cotton fabric that works year-round. Or, in other words, a damn-near perfect hoodie.

Much like everything else offered in the men's line, Madewell's signature hoodie is as close as you can find to a platonic ideal in the category—the kind you'll wear for years and forget where it even came from.

Are we getting a little loose with the definition of a hoodie here? Sure are, but a) it's in the name, b) it does have a hood and c) it's one of the more versatile tools you can have in a layering arsenal and it's under $150.

I love a hoodie with some pedigree and backstory and I own those kinds as well, but the best part about shopping for a hoodie is that you can snag one like this for $26 and it will have zero shortcomings.

This hoodie wears like a regular, ol' trusty hoodie, but it was made with a four-way stretch fabric that's going to keep the sweat off of you, the air flowing and your torso toasty.
