DAEGU — Permit procedures for Shinsegae Simon's planned premium outlet in Daegu will be cut to less than half the usual time, clearing the way for faster investment.
The city government and the Dong-gu District Office held a kickoff meeting for a one-stop investment support council on the afternoon of the 14th at the Sangyeok government complex to accelerate the premium outlet project, Daegu said.
Directors and division heads in charge of permits and infrastructure at the city and the district office attended the meeting, where they shared the status of the project and discussed pending issues and support measures by field.
Shinsegae Simon presented a detailed blueprint for the outlet, including its business plan and design direction.
The city then laid out plans to sharply shorten the permit timeline in line with the company's proposal.
Decisions on urban management planning and the traffic impact assessment, which normally take more than nine months, will be moved up as far as possible through preliminary reviews and cooperation among the relevant departments.
Reviews by the architecture committee and the landscape committee, which take more than two months, will also be shortened by combining them into a single review.
The council will check on the project's progress at regular meetings and quickly resolve differences between departments. It also plans to convene ad hoc meetings for an immediate response when issues arise.
Participants also discussed measures to share benefits with the region, including expanding the involvement of local construction firms and the hiring of local talent during construction.
The Daegu premium outlet is in the design and permit preparation stage, with construction set to begin in the first half of next year and the opening targeted for the second half of 2028.
"We will not be bound by customary processing times, and we will speed up administrative work so that companies can feel the difference," Daegu Mayor Choo Kyung-ho said. "Through the council, we will carefully manage every stage of the project, from permits to infrastructure, and support it to the end so that construction and the opening can proceed as planned."
