ABIDJAN, Côte d’Ivoire, October 23, 2026: Liberia Electricity Regulatory Commission (LERC) Commissioner Amara Kamara has reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to strengthening regional electricity cooperation and promoting reliable cross-border power trade in West Africa.
Commissioner Kamara made the commitment during a courtesy visit to the headquarters of TRANSCO CLSG in Abidjan, where he held discussions with General Manager Etienne Bailly and senior management on improving regional electricity transmission and market integration.
Speaking on behalf of LERC Chairman Claude Katta and the Board of Commissioners, Kamara congratulated Bailly on his appointment and pledged the Commission’s support for TRANSCO CLSG’s operations.
“We admire the work being done here at TRANSCO CLSG,” Kamara said.
Discussions focused on the performance, reliability and commercial sustainability of the Côte d’Ivoire–Liberia–Sierra Leone–Guinea (CLSG) electricity interconnection, which facilitates cross-border electricity trade among the four countries.
Both institutions emphasized the need for stronger coordination among electricity regulators, utilities and transmission operators to improve power supply and support regional energy integration.
Kamara called for increased knowledge sharing, technical training, staff exchanges and cooperation agreements to strengthen operational efficiency and maintenance capacity.
The two institutions also identified reinforcement of the CLSG transmission corridor, improved donor coordination and additional infrastructure investment as priorities for sustaining regional electricity trade.
They reaffirmed their commitment to continued collaboration under the ECOWAS Regional Electricity Market framework to promote reliable, affordable and sustainable electricity supply across the region. —Press Release
