Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has said Tehran has not yet received a response from either Saudi Arabia or the Houthis to its offer to mediate between the two sides.
In a post on his Telegram channel early Wednesday, October 21, Araghchi said he made the remarks in an interview with an Iraqi media outlet.
Araghchi said Iran was ready to help resolve the dispute between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis and had previously offered to mediate.
He added that neither Saudi Arabia nor the Houthis had given Tehran a positive response to its offer of assistance.
According to Araghchi, both sides have conditions for negotiations and ending the war, and neither is willing to engage in talks until those conditions are met.
The Houthis are regarded by several countries as an Iranian proxy force, while their attacks on Saudi Arabia and Israel have been viewed as being carried out with Iran’s backing.
