A million rand extortion case involving Mpumalanga taxi bosses Joe Sibanyoni and Bafana “King of the Sky” Sindane and two other accused has been postponed, with the State seeking more time to investigate allegations linked to a road-construction tender.
The four accused appeared briefly in the Delmas Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, where proceedings were postponed to April 20, 2027.
They face allegations of extortion and money laundering involving more than R2 million allegedly extracted from businessman Tengane Thomas Ntuli in connection with his road-construction contract.
Sindane, who has faced scrutiny over attempts to avoid testifying at the Madlanga Commission, appeared in the dock alongside his co-accused.
The State requested additional time to conduct further investigations, drawing objections from the defence.
Sibanyoni’s lawyer, Advocate Shaun Abrahams, asked the court to make the postponement final for investigative purposes.
The court ordered that the case docket be disclosed in April.
All four accused remain on bail of R70,000 each as the case moves towards its next court date.
