Riyadh – The Saudi Ministry of Defense announced on Thursday the interception and destruction of four drones in the Riyadh and Medina regions, as Houthi attacks on airports and oil facilities in the Kingdom continue for nearly three weeks.
The official spokesman for the Saudi Ministry of Defense, Major General Turki al-Maliki, stated via the “X” platform that “four drones were intercepted and destroyed in the Riyadh and Medina regions.”
The announcement came shortly after the interception of a drone in the Riyadh region, and a day after reports of the interception of more than 10 drones launched towards the Kingdom, including drones in the Medina region.
The Houthis have escalated their attacks on Saudi Arabia during October, including strikes targeting Riyadh airport. One such attack, on October 10, resulted in the deaths of 13 people and injuries to hundreds more, marking the deadliest attack on Saudi territory in over a decade.
