I’ve got a take for you: Bears nickel back Kyler Gordon should’ve won NFC Defensive Player of the Week for Week 6.
It’s almost shocking he didn’t.
He played 17 defensive snaps, rushed on 10 of ‘em and came away with three sacks and two forced fumbles.
Hey, at least Caleb Williams took home the NFC Offensive Player of the Week honors.
He’s the second Bears QB to ever win the award twice, joining good ol’ Jay Cutler.
Let’s turn the page and dive into Week 7.
WEEK 7 PREDICTIONS
Adam Hoge (4-2) | Bears 28, Patriots 27
The Bears have only played in one close game this season — Week 2 against the Vikings — and Caleb Williams wasn’t able to finish the game. This one feels like it will come down to the wire, and this time the Bears should have Iceman in there to close.
Adam Jahns (4-2) | Bears 27, Patriots 23
This is a matchup of two very good teams. The numbers show that on both sides of the ball. But give me Caleb Williams over Drake Maye — and I think everyone will see why on Thursday Night Football. But let’s hope this is the start of something fun to cover and watch in the future, too. They’re friends who can grow into rivals. It’s easy to see both quarterbacks becoming the new, young faces of the NFL.
Mark Carman (2-4) | Bears 27, Patriots 17
Banged-up New England offensive line spells trouble for the Patriots. Bears score early and Soldier Field is rocking with 5-2 excitement.
Patrick Norton (3-3) | Bears 30, Patriots 22
I’ve got two words for you: Caleb Williams and Drake Maye — must-see TV. I promise you that’ll make sense to a couple of people … to which I say: worth it. Williams having his full offensive line — including right guard Jonah Jackson — is a big deal. Maye, meanwhile, does not have his full group. The last time we saw him perform with an inferior offensive line, the results weren’t exactly ideal (SEE: Super Bowl LX).
Greg Braggs Jr. (3-3) | Bears 34, Patriots 20
This feels like a buzzsaw game for the Patriots. Caleb Williams is riding high after his comeback in Atlanta. The Patriots offensive line is heavily banged up. Soldier Field will be rocking. Ticket prices have risen to NFC Championship-level numbers. Not sure New England is ready for what they are about to walk into.
Joey Christopoulos (3-3) | Bears 24, Patriots 17
It’s gonna be tight, but Ben Johnson and Caleb Williams are ready for a tight win against a formidable NFL opponent. I’m looking for a big shot play down the field as the separator.
Stephen Nicholas (3-3) | Bears 27, Patriots 24
Ben Johnson’s team protects home turf where he has an 8-3 record as Bears head coach. I don’t think Caleb utilizes his legs very much after seeing the Patriots hold Josh Allen to just four yards rushing in their matchup with the Bills. Luther Burden is the beneficiary as Ben uses pre-snap motions to get Christian Gonzalez away from his top targets.
Corey Wootton (3-3) | Bears 31, Patriots 24
The offense moves the ball well again and Caleb distributes the rock. Patriots have a better plan for the defense than Atlanta did. One-possession game. Bears go up at the end. Iceman!
