After the Dallas Mavericks decided to move on from Luka Doncic in what was one of the most shocking trades in NBA history, it's safe to say no other team will ever make that mistake again.
The Los Angeles Lakers got very lucky that the Mavericks made that mistake, and as a result, have one of the five best players in the world.
Doncic, however, finds himself in a somewhat interesting spot in Los Angeles. Some argue that the Lakers haven't put the necessary talent around him to win at a high level over the past couple of seasons, and that wouldn't necessarily be unfair.
The reality is that the Lakers have made some bad moves in the past and have limited assets to improve their roster. At the same time, having Doncic always gives them a chance to win.
It doesn't seem like he wants to leave anytime soon, though, as he found out the hard way: anything is possible in this league. Doncic said he wants to stay in Los Angeles, adding that he's found something here that feels comfortable for him.
“Hopefully, yeah. But as you know in this NBA business, you never know what’s going to happen. But I feel like I’ve found something here that’s very comfortable for me. And hopefully [that happens],” Doncic said, per Melissa Rohlin.
There's always been some quiet talk about Doncic wanting to return to the Mavericks at some point in his career, especially with Nico Harrison no longer with the organization.
However, he also gets to live in Los Angeles and play for a storied organization, while being the top option on the team. Seems like he's more than happy there, so hopefully, that will be good news for the Lakers moving forward.
