Midfielder Joshua Kimmich will miss Bayern Munich's Champions League match against Arsenal on Wednesday night due to "a passing in his immediate family," the German club has said.
Kimmich had already been absent from training on Tuesday for that reason and Bayern said on Wednesday morning that was also not available for the match.
"Due to a passing in his immediate family, Joshua Kimmich is not in the squad today for the match against Arsenal," Bayern said on X.
"On behalf of the family, we ask that his privacy and grief be respected, and that further inquiries and reporting be refrained from. We send our deepest condolences to Joshua Kimmich and his loved ones."
Kimmich is the second key player to miss the match. The other is winger Michael Olise, who is suspended after being sent off during last week's 3-3 draw at Viking Stavanger.
