Oklahoma City got 32 points from reigning two-time NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and frustrated the San Antonio Spurs 116-104 in a Western Conference Finals rematch. The Thunder led by as much as 26 points and held off San Antonio down the stretch in a game that got chippy at times. Jared McCain came off the bench for 20 points, and Chet Holmgren finished with 14 points, seven rebounds, and four blocked shots while helping hold Victor Wembanyama to a career-worst 1-of-13 shooting night.
The Nuggets return three-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokić along with Jamal Murray and Aaron Gordon, but the supporting cast takes on a new look with the departures of Peyton Watson, Tim Hardaway Jr. and Bruce Brown. DeMar DeRozan signed with Denver after his release by the Sacramento Kings, and added EuroLeague Defensive Player of the Year Alpha Diallo, who went undrafted out of Providence in 2020 and spent two years in Greece before a four-year stint with AS Monaco.
The Thunder’s NBA title defense ended in a seven-game loss to the Spurs in last year’s Western Conference Finals, while Denver lost in six games to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round.
This is a great NBA matchup that you will not want to miss; make sure to tune in and catch all the action.
