Internationally acclaimed Reuben and the Dark are playing at Daniel’s Taphouse
in support of their latest album. If You Know Me You Know My Brother, which was released this past Friday and is topping the charts.
Opening is Cape Breton’s Lookout Tower, whose latest roots rock album Love at Foxglove was released this summer.
From Calgary, Reuben and the Dark have played at major festivals around the world and shared stages with such bands as Mumford & Sons, Vance Joy and Australia’s Boy & Bear.
Frontman singer-songwriter Reuben Bullock draws on personal experience in his music and has received critical acclaim since the band’s 2014 debut album, Funeral Sky.
Bullock’s international success has grown as his music has been used in many films and television shows — including Grey’s Anatomy, Game of Thrones, Heartland and El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie.
Juno and Polaris awards nominees, Reuben and the Dark have 79 million streams across multiple platforms, more than 175,000 followers and are on close to 2,000 playlists.
Their latest effort, If You Know Me You Know My Brother, follows the death of Bullock’s brother earlier this year. It is the last record Bullock was able to show him.
Many of the songs, which explore family, forgiveness, addiction and childhood trauma, had been started years ago; too personal to release until now. With Reuben and the Dark, the songs were recorded and are some of the most intimate recordings of Bullock’s career.
Tickets for the Wednesday show at Daniel’s are available online and cost $20 plus tax.
Doors open at 7 p.m., with music starting at 7:30 p.m. It is a 19-and-over event.
