Twenty-one local government area chairmen and 226 councillors in Adamawa State have defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The chairmen resignation is contained in a letter adressed to their various warch Chairmen of the Party.
In their letters, the LGA Chairmen cited personal reasons and consultations with their political associates for their decisions to leave the PDP.
The Adamawa State APC Publicity Secretary, Victor Dogo, confirmed the development, stating that all 21 council chairmen, area development administrators and 226 councillors had joined the APC.

Dogo attributed the mass defection to the officials’ decision to align politically with Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, who recently left the PDP for the APC.
The development comes months after the council officials were elected on the PDP platform in the June 13, 2026, local government elections, despite Fintiri’s earlier departure from the party.
Their defection marks a significant political realignment in Adamawa State, with the APC gaining the support of elected officials across all 21 local government areas.
