ISKANDAR PUTERI: A seven-year-old boy was injured after being attacked by a pack of six to eight stray dogs at a playground near a low-cost flat in Lima Kedai here this afternoon.
Kota Iskandar assemblyman Pandak Ahmad said the boy sustained injuries around his eyes, neck, head and body and was taken to Sultanah Aminah Hospital in Johor Bahru for treatment.
He said a man, who witnessed the incident, threw stones at the dogs and helped the boy.
Pandak said a 15-year-old boy had also been attacked by a pack of eight stray dogs in the same area this morning.
The teenager managed to drive the dogs away and flee to the building’s staircase but sustained injuries to his legs.
Pandak called for immediate action to protect residents, particularly children, even if it drew objections from NGOs.
“How long are we going to allow this to happen? Do we have to wait for someone to die before action is taken?” he said.
He said the incidents had been brought to the Iskandar Puteri City Council’s attention, and the council informed him it would conduct an operation tonight.
On Sept 5, a two-year-old girl, Nur Haira Wafiqah, was seriously injured after being attacked by five stray dogs at Kampung Tambak in Peserai, Batu Pahat.
