Due to possible cybersecurity risks, the LSM.lv portal, the Latvian Radio website, and the Latvian Radio mobile app were all temporarily suspended on Wednesday evening.
We apologize for the inconvenience, but it was necessary to take the services offline due to prevent potential cybersecurity risks which disrupted many websites and online resources worldwide.
Among them, the websites of Latvian ministries and other state institutions were also affected. At least 165 pages of state and local government institutions were subject to similar measures.

Two critical vulnerabilities have been discovered in the PHP programming language, which is widely used on Internet resources around the world. Many countries have already taken measures to protect information systems from possible attacks, including Latvia.
PHP is a widely used web programming technology that underlies both government information systems and corporate websites, online stores, and customer portals.
National cyber security agency CERT.lv Deputy Head Varis Teivāns explained on the Latvian Television program "Panorāma" that risks have now been identified and everything is being done to provide a remedy.
"I would describe this as crisis avoidance. What is worrying is the scope. The impact is extremely wide-ranging. A decision has been made to limit resources in other parts of the world as well. The message to the public is that no incident has occurred at this time. This is being done to prevent incidents," Teivāns said.
