A day after three men fired at Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff in Mumbai, security has been enhanced around other Bollywood personalities, including actor Salman Khan, with an additional police vehicle deployed outside his residence and intensified patrolling near Aamir Khan's residence.
Salman Khan and filmmaker Rohit Shetty already had security, but a vehicle from the local police station will now keep a continuous watch near their homes, a senior police officer said.
Shroff has also been provided with police protection.
Police are probing claims that the Lawrence Bishnoi gang was behind Sunday's firing at Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff in Juhu.
The three men suspected of firing five rounds at Shroff's car on Sunday evening were arrested from a train in Rajasthan's Kota town on Monday after a tip-off from Mumbai Police triggered a coordinated operation.
The suspects had fled Mumbai after the shooting and were allegedly planning to travel to Delhi and, from there, to Nepal, police said.
New CCTV footage has emerged purportedly showing two of the suspects in the Tiger Shroff firing incident rushing to board a Pune-Jaipur Express train at Surat station in Gujarat, about 275km from Mumbai, hours after the attack on the actor in Mumbai, a Railway Police officer said.
The officer said on Monday that the suspects travelled by road to Surat in a taxi before boarding a train bound for Jaipur at around 1.30 am on Monday.
Abhay Soni, Superintendent of Police (SP) in the Western Railway's Vadodara division, said the Government Railway Police in Gujarat, along with the Railway Protection Force, contributed to the operation to trace the suspects by coordinating with Mumbai Police.
The three men who allegedly opened fire at Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff outside a Juhu football ground on Sunday were suspected of having visited the spot a week before the incident on 11 October, CCTV footage and call data records show.
Police suspect they had come to carry out the attack on Tiger Shroff then but left because he did not turn up to play that day, an officer told The Indian Express.
"Shroff loves playing football and comes to Pushpa Narsee Ground between 5 pm and 7 pm every Sunday. He hardly misses any Sunday," a friend, who was with him this Sunday too and who did not wish to be identified, said.
