Cuckoo said on the 22nd that it will launch the Gourmet Collection Gourmet Cube Mini Kimchi Refrigerator ahead of the kimjang season, when Korean households prepare kimchi for the winter. The product is made by Cuckoo Homesys (284740.KS).
The new refrigerator comes in two capacities, 51 liters and 41 liters, and measures 37 centimeters wide, allowing installation in tight spaces. Its cube-shaped design and white finish make it suitable for living rooms and studies as well as kitchens.
The compact refrigerator targets one- and two-person households that prioritize space efficiency. It can serve as a dedicated kimchi refrigerator during the kimjang season and as a second refrigerator for beverages and meal kits at other times. The unit also offers storage modes tailored to specific foods, including kimchi, alcoholic beverages and meal kits.
Precision cooling technology helps keep kimchi fresh. An inverter direct cooling system, inspired by the traditional practice of storing kimchi in earthenware jars buried underground in winter, cools the interior evenly, while Surround Metal Cooling and a Metal Air Curtain reduce the loss of cold air. A Smart Auto Cooling System monitors and controls the internal temperature around the clock, holding temperature variation to within plus or minus 0.5 degrees Celsius.
Cuckoo also improved ease of use. A sealed one-piece structure without a floor drain simplifies cleaning, and a deodorizing filter reduces odors from stored food. The refrigerator features a soft-closing door and casters for easy movement.
"We introduced a mini kimchi refrigerator designed for space efficiency and practicality, in line with the growing number of one- and two-person households and rising demand for secondary appliances," a Cuckoo official said. "It can keep kimchi fresh during the kimjang season and serve as a second refrigerator for a variety of foods at other times."
