The growing demands of WA’s Defence sector will be met with a new range of initiatives to upskill more than 10,000 workers over the next two decades.
Progress is underway to establish a centre for specialised defence training and innovation, with the announcement of a Murdoch University campus in Rockingham.
On Friday, the state government announced that an MOI had been signed by Murdoch University, Curtin University, and South Metropolitan TAFE that would help build a local workforce capable of seizing the opportunities created by AUKUS.
WA Assistant Defence Industries Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson said WA was focused on delivering new training opportunities, supporting veterans to pivot into new roles, and showcasing the jobs and opportunities the sector offered.
