Bank AL Habib has launched AL Habib Digital, a new banking App built around a simple idea: everyday banking should adapt to the customer, not the other way around.
Leading this transformation is Syed Zafar Ali Zaidi, Chief Digital & Marketing Officer of Bank AL Habib Limited, whose leadership reflects the Bank’s forward-thinking commitment to accelerating its digital journey.
With over 23 years of experience, Zafar has built a reputation for translating strategic foresight into enterprise-level digital solutions. His vision centers on delivering secure, seamless, and future-ready financial solutions to millions of customers, a track record now reflected in AL Habib Digital, the Bank’s flagship step into digital-first banking.
For most customers, the value of a banking App isn’t found in a features list, it’s found in the ordinary moments. Sending money quickly, finding a frequently used service without digging through menus, managing a card in just a few taps. AL Habib Digital is built around those moments, giving customers an experience they can shape around their own habits rather than a fixed, one-size-fits-all layout.
A dashboard that adjusts to how you bank
At the center of the App is a dashboard offering both Basic and Advanced views, so customers can choose the level of detail that suits them. Shortcuts and interactive widgets bring frequently used services closer to hand, English and Urdu language support offers a choice for customers, and light and dark display modes let customers set up the app in the way that feels most natural to them.
The thinking behind this is straightforward: no two customers bank the same way. Someone who pays recurring bills every month may want that front and center while someone else may use the App mainly for transfers. A dashboard that flexes around these differences gives every customer a more useful starting point each time they log in.
Simpler transactions, day to day
AL Habib Digital also removes some of the friction from routine banking. Customers can send money without first saving the recipient as a payee, a small change that makes one-off transfers considerably easier. Bill payments, mobile top-ups and QR payments are all housed within the same app, bringing common payment needs into a single place.
Security and control, in the customer’s hands
Convenience is paired with control. Biometric login offers a faster alternative to typing a password, while Financial PIN (FPIN) authorizes transactions, adding a dedicated layer of protection for payments specifically. Customers can review and manage device access directly within the app, and debit card controls, including temporary blocking, PIN changes and transaction limit adjustments, and put practical safeguards directly in customers’ hands. The App also provides access to statements, certificates and other banking documents and service requests, cutting down on the need for branch visits for routine paperwork.
A familiar transition
Existing AL Habib Mobile users aren’t starting from scratch. They can log in with their existing credentials, and previously saved payees and billers carry over automatically, a continuity that lets customers move to the new experience without losing the information they’ve already built up.
The beginning of a broader vision
For Zafar, AL Habib Digital marks “the beginning of our broader vision to deliver a truly seamless, intuitive and connected multi-channel banking experience”. The launch is a milestone in that journey, with an experience built to evolve around customer needs over time.
The launch brought together the work of the Digital Innovation team and colleagues across Bank AL Habib. In his LinkedIn post, Zafar acknowledged their dedication and resilience, describing the achievement as the result of a shared vision and collective effort. The post also placed AL Habib Digital within the Bank’s broader digital and AI agenda, positioning the launch as a foundation for further development.
A vision, years in the making
AL Habib Digital doesn’t arrive in isolation, it’s the product of a digital strategy Zafar has been building, drawing on a career spent driving transformation across complex environments.
AL Habib Digital brings that same strategic focus directly to the screen customers use for their daily banking. AL Habib Digital marks a step in Bank AL Habib’s broader digital plans. As Zaidi outlined in his LinkedIn post, further innovation forms part of that direction. For customers, the measure of progress will be how effectively these developments meet their everyday banking needs.
