Zimbabwe have been left counting their wounds after the Scorchers turned the pitch into a goal festival, firing seven times to storm into the next round.
Malawi thrashed Zimbabwe’s Mighty Warriors 7-0 this afternoon to book their place in the second round of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games qualifiers.
Temwa Chawinga stole the show with a hat-trick, while Tabitha Chawinga, Chisomo Banda, Asimenye Simwaka and Sarah Mulimbika also found the net.
The victory sets up a second-round showdown against Kenya, with the two teams scheduled to meet in a two-legged tie in February 2027.
Kenya have previously halted Malawi’s progress in the Olympic Games qualifiers, giving the Scorchers another hurdle to overcome as they chase a place at the 2028 Games in Los Angeles, United States.
