The Hyundai Seoul will begin delivering shopping purchases and travel luggage for foreign visitors to airports and hotels.
Hyundai Department Store (069960.KS) said on the 15th that it is introducing a "Luggage Delivery" service for foreign customers at The Hyundai Seoul through a partnership with global travel logistics startup Good Luck Company.
Customers can send suitcases or shopping bags purchased at the department store to storage centers at Incheon or Gimpo international airports, or to hotels nationwide. Within Seoul, items dropped off before 3 p.m. are delivered by 7 p.m. the same day, while those submitted between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. arrive by 10 p.m. Outside Seoul, items received before noon are delivered by 10 p.m. the same day.
Requests can be made through the Good Luck Company app via a QR code at the tourist desk on the first floor of The Hyundai Seoul. The app supports Korean, English, Chinese and Japanese, and offers real-time delivery tracking. Suitcase delivery starts at 24,500 won depending on size. Shopping bags are delivered within Seoul for 16,900 won per item regardless of size.
The service responds to a sharp rise in foreign visitors to South Korea. Foreign visitors to The Hyundai Seoul rose more than 67% in the first nine months of this year from a year earlier, while sales to foreign customers jumped 135%. Foreign customers accounted for 25% of total sales.
Hyundai Department Store also formed a foreign customer advisory panel in July to identify and address inconveniences faced by overseas shoppers. In January, it plans to open a Personal Shopping Room (PSR), a dedicated space for global VIP customers, at The Hyundai Seoul.
"We designed this service so that customers from more than 180 countries can enjoy K-shopping and Korean culture without the burden of carrying their bags," a Hyundai Department Store official said. "We will build differentiated shopping infrastructure to further cement our position as a shopping landmark representing South Korea."
