KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia ended their Aichi-Nagoya Asian Para Games campaign without a medal on the final day after boccia mixed pair BC4 Hanafi Rosli and Noor Askuzaimey Mat Salim missed out on bronze.
The Malaysians lost 4-2 to Thailand's Phonsila Nuanchan and Larpyen Pornchok at the Nagoya City General Gymnasium on Saturday.
Noor Askuzaimey had earlier provided one of Malaysia's medal highlights in boccia, winning bronze in the women's BC4 event on Wednesday but she missed out clinching her second bronze in Nagoya.
The defeat brought Malaysia's medal hunt at the Games to an end, with no further additions to the contingent's tally on the final day of competition.
Despite the disappointment, Malaysia had already achieved its six-gold target on Thursday.
The contingent finished the Games with six gold, eight silver and 13 bronze medals to place 12th among 31 participating countries.
China dominated the medal standings with 207 gold, 117 silver and 111 bronze medals, finishing well clear of the chasing pack.
Hosts Japan placed second with 64 gold, 60 silver and 62 bronze, while Uzbekistan took third with 45 gold, 49 silver and 51 bronze.
