Hamoonga is no longer Copperbelt Police Commissioner
THE Zambia Police Command has appointed Commissioner of Police Edwin Kaluba as the new Copperbelt Province Police Commanding Officer, replacing Rae Hamoonga, who has been reassigned to Lilayi Police College.
Hamoonga, who took up the Copperbelt post in July, bid farewell to the media fraternity in the Province, expressing gratitude for its role in promoting public safety through information sharing.
“It has been an honour and privilege to work with you in promoting public safety, enhancing information sharing and keeping members of the public informed on matters of law enforcement and security.
“I greatly appreciate your role in supporting the Zambia Police Service in fulfilling its mandate of maintaining law and order,” Hamoonga said.
Kaluba officially assumed the provincial command this morning, October 19, 2026.
