ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday expressed grief over the loss of lives in the collapse of a roof at a private school in Peshawar’s Deir Colony and ordered a comprehensive report on the incident.
In a telephone conversation with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, the prime minister offered his condolences to the families of the children and a teacher who died in the incident, expressing solidarity with them in their hour of grief.
He directed the authorities to ensure the provision of the best possible medical facilities to those injured in the collapse and provide all possible assistance and support to the affected families.
He called for a thorough examination of all aspects of the incident and directed that those found responsible be proceeded against in accordance with the law.
During the conversation, the governor briefed the prime minister on the incident and informed him that the school owner had been arrested and an investigation had been launched.
The prime minister prayed for strength and patience for the bereaved families and reiterated the need to establish the circumstances surrounding the tragedy and ensure accountability.
