Nigerian disc jockey, Florence Otedola, popularly known as DJ Cuppy, has said she wishes she had her father, billionaire businessman Femi Otedola’s brain, praising his investment decisions and approach to wealth creation.
Cuppy made this known in a post on LinkedIn on Monday, where she said she makes a point of learning from her father whenever he visits London.
“Whenever Mr Femi Otedola comes to London, I MUST pick his brain! Why do I think understanding how my dad thinks is important? Tbh, I wish I had his brain. Genius!” she wrote.
The disc jockey said watching her father grow his investment in First HoldCo Plc had taught her that business was not just about making money but also about creating value for others.
“Watching him grow his investment in First HoldCo Plc has taught me that business isn’t just about making money, but creating value for others,” she said.
Cuppy also highlighted the financial services group’s recently introduced dividend policy, which targets a minimum payout of 60 per cent of its annual profit after tax to shareholders, subject to applicable regulatory approvals.
The policy was approved by the company’s board in July 2026.
She further praised her father’s confidence in the company, saying he had invested more than $450m of his personal funds in its shares.
“What fascinates me even more is his confidence. He’s invested over $450 million of his own money in shares.
“Now that’s putting your money where your mouth is!” she wrote.
Reflecting on the lessons she had learnt from him, Cuppy said she increasingly valued her father’s thinking and approach to business.
“The older I get, the more I realise that the REAL wealth is in the way he thinks. I’ll always be his student. Very happy to learn,” she added.
