The Invesco NASDAQ 100 ETF faces a bearish near-term daily setup, although its position above the200-session average limits the broader bearish case. For the QQQM ETF, hourly signals offer a counterweight rather than a convincing bullish alternative.

QQQM ETF daily analysis: downside bias, but not full bearish alignment
Price sits below the daily 20-session EMA at $303.63 and the 50-session EMA at $299.94. Those averages form overhead barriers to a bullish case. However, the 200-session EMA at $280.87 remains below price, so the daily averages do not form a fully bearish alignment.
Daily RSI14 fell to 41.07 from 44.13, placing it below 50 but above oversold territory. Meanwhile, the daily MACD histogram declined to -1.57 from -1.23. The MACD line at 1.06 remains positive but below its signal at 2.63, leaving the daily momentum balance unfavorable.
Price is also below the daily lower Bollinger band at $298.31, with the mid-band at $306.01 overhead. That position reinforces the downside bias without establishing a bullish reversal. Daily ATR14 reads $3.94, providing a measure of trading variability rather than a directional signal.
The daily pivot at $298.24 is above price, while daily first support, S1, stands below it at $296.14. Daily first resistance, R1, is $301.89. These levels, calculated from the previous completed daily candle, frame the current session.
Hourly signals complicate the daily view
Meanwhile, the hourly chart confirms overhead resistance but presents mixed momentum evidence. Price is below the 20-hour EMA at $300.46, the 200-hour EMA at $302.28 and the 50-hour EMA at $303.71. Their order is not fully bearish, although all three sit above the fund.
Hourly RSI14 rose to 35.29 from 30.23, but remains below 50. In contrast to the daily MACD, the hourly MACD line at -2.3 sits above its signal at -2.32. Its histogram is positive at 0.02. This offers limited bullish evidence within an otherwise unfavorable price position.
Notably, price sits above the hourly pivot at $297.33 but below hourly first resistance, R1, at $298.18. It is between the hourly lower Bollinger band at $294.52 and the mid-band at $300.63. The pivot therefore provides an immediate reference for whether the hourly evidence can support a stronger bullish case.
Short-term timing and the two scenarios
On the 15-minute chart, price and the exponential averages are bearishly aligned. Price is below the 20-period EMA at $298.24, followed by the 50-period EMA at $299.49 and the 200-period EMA at $304.32. However, 15-minute RSI14 rose to 44.68 from 36.89. It remains below 50, while the MACD histogram at -0.12 keeps the short-term momentum reading negative.
For a bullish scenario, the first requirement is to clear hourly R1 at $298.18, followed by the daily pivot at $298.24. Sustained trade above the daily lower Bollinger band at $298.31 would further support that case. The daily 50-session EMA at $299.94 would then be the next broader barrier, ahead of daily R1 at $301.89.
Conversely, a break below the hourly pivot at $297.33 would weaken the immediate bullish case. A break below the session low at $296.49 would strengthen the bearish scenario, with daily S1 at $296.14 the next reference. Remaining below the daily pivot and lower Bollinger band would leave the daily downside thesis intact.
Fund news and the technical balance
A Yahoo Finance report published before Friday’s open said the fund added $182.7 million in new buys on Wednesday, October 14. The report said those additions covered all 101 positions. That portfolio activity provides context.
Overall, the QQQM ETF remains below its daily pivot and lower Bollinger band, but above hourly pivot support. Daily ATR14 of $3.94 frames the volatility backdrop. The unresolved question is whether the positive hourly MACD histogram can support price above nearby resistance despite the bearish daily evidence.
