ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan met National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq and requested the issuance of production orders for detained party lawmakers, ARY News reported.
According to reports, Barrister Gohar raised several concerns during the meeting and urged the speaker to ensure that the detained lawmakers were brought to the National Assembly.
“Our members are in custody. They should be brought to the House,” Barrister Gohar told Ayaz Sadiq.
The speaker assured him that he would seek legal advice on the issuance of production orders.
Earlier, Opposition Leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai said that all provinces would stand up if attempts were made to take away the power of the vote. He urged the authorities to reverse all wrong and unconstitutional decisions without delay.
Achakzai called for an end to what he described as attacks on the Constitution and demanded that Parliament be made truly powerful.
He also claimed that 23,000 senior government officers, including bureaucrats, held dual nationality. He said the country was heading towards destruction because of its own mistakes.
Earlier, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar on Wednesday filed a petition in the Peshawar High Court (PHC) against the imposition of a state of emergency and governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In the petition, the PTI Chairman urged the court to declare the imposition of emergency and governor’s rule null and void. He also requested an early hearing of the case.
