Last year, this blog broke the news that the payroll and human resources company PayChex had acquired the employment law compliance and documentation company SixFifty, which had previously been owned by the Silicon Valley law firm Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati as a technology subsidiary, as well as by SixFifty’s CEO Kimball Dean Parker, the Utah lawyer who helped found it, and by other employees of the company.
Now, in its first major product update since that acquisition, SixFifty today introduced an agentic HR compliance specialist that provides a chat interface through which users can get employment compliance information and complete necessary compliance tasks.
“Employment law has become too complex and changes too quickly for small and mid-sized businesses to manage manually,” Parker said in a statement. “We started SixFifty with a simple belief: the law should be accessible to all. With our agentic HR specialist, we’re taking that idea one step further to provide business leaders with trusted employment law guidance and the tools to act on it.”
In the past year alone, the company says, its team has tracked more than 440 changes to employment laws across nearly 130 federal, state and local jurisdictions.
The company says its new tool helps HR professionals navigate this fast-changing landscape using agentic AI capabilities athat can execute multi-step compliance tasks. Among the platform’s capabilities:
- Answer any question about employment law or HR best practices.
- Draft and update employee handbooks, HR policies and contracts.
- Send documents for signature and acknowledgement.
- Distribute digital labor posters and new hire notices based on where employees are located.
- Provision required sexual harassment trainings.
- Collect complaints, requests and suggestions from employees.
- File state government documents when a company hires someone in a new location.
SixFifty says that every agentic action is grounded in its proprietary database of employment law summaries, its collection of automated employment documents, and strict, lawyer-created workflows. The company says that, over the past three years, it has summarized and cataloged every employment law in the United States.
Every answer the agent provides links to a reference article with citations that trace back to the statute or regulation, SixFifty says.
SixFifty is available as a standalone product to non-Paychex payroll clients, as well as integrated with Paychex Flex and Paycor through WISE (Workforce Intelligence Strengthened by Expertise), the company’s AI-powered intelligence engine.
The new agentic HR compliance specialist is now available to SixFifty standalone customers and trial users, with these capabilities coming to the integrated Paychex products later this fiscal year.
Here is a video in which Parker demonstrates the new agentic compliance capabilities.
