Missing 14-year-old Allegra Styles has been found safe and unharmed in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape, following a search by police.
The Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit in Gqeberha confirmed on Tuesday, October 13, that investigators had traced the teenager’s whereabouts as well as those of her boyfriend.
Police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg said members followed up on the information and located Allegra in Middle Street, North End.
“She was found safe and unharmed,” said van Rensburg.
Police added that the FCS Unit said no further information could be released at this stage because the matter involved a minor and was sensitive in nature.
Teenager last seen after alleged altercation
Allegra was reported missing by a family member on October 10 after she was last seen on October 8 at approximately 6pm.
According to the initial police statement, the family member told investigators that Allegra had gone to Kamma Park to attend a party following an alleged altercation with her boyfriend.
Both Allegra and her boyfriend had reportedly not been seen since.
Walmer police and the FCS Unit subsequently appealed to the public for assistance in locating the teenager. Investigators also sought information from her 25-year-old boyfriend, Brent Naidoo, who police believed could assist with the investigation into her whereabouts.
Police said they had visited several addresses and contacted people known to Allegra as the search continued.
The latest update confirms that the teenager has been located, although police have not disclosed further details about the circumstances surrounding the incident.
"The investigation remains ongoing," van Rensburg added.
