(ANSA) - ROME, 22 OTT - Pope Leo XIV on Thursday made an appeal for young people to be helped to find their place in the world as he addressed participants in the International Congress for Pastoral Care in Schools and Universities, which is currently taking place in the Vatican.
"Beneath the armour that so many teenagers build around themselves to avoid suffering lies the desire to love and be loved," he said.
The American pontiff said Catholic schools and universities should "help the young people you meet to become protagonists of a new way of inhabiting the world, builders of fraternity and of a more just society.
"Courage is born from a pact of trust: from the experience of someone who believes in you before you believe in yourself," he said.
Last week's shocking riots in Milan have sparked a debate about how to address the malaise many of Italy's young people are experiencing. (ANSA).
