It was recently reported that the New York Yankees would be bringing manager Aaron Boone back for the 2027 MLB season.
Longtime Yankees general manager Brian Cashman revealed on Wednesday that he'll be joining Boone.
Wednesday's news may come to the chagrin of many fans in the Bronx.
Cashman's run at the helm began in the best way possible with three straight World Series titles from 1998 to 2000. Since then, however, New York has just one championship.

...
The Yankees have missed the playoffs just five times since Cashman was named GM in 1998 and have won four AL pennants since 2001 but were only able to finish the job in 2009.
Boone has served as the manager since 2018 and despite having three-time AL MVP Aaron Judge as its captain, New York has been eliminated in the ALDS in back-to-back campaigns.
The division-rival Tampa Bay Rays, meanwhile, won the AL East for the first time in five years in 2026, swept the Yankees in the division series and will face the Milwaukee Brewers in this year's Fall Classic.
The Bronx Bombers' MLB-record 27 World Series titles is in no danger of losing its spot atop the leaderboard any time soon, but 17 years without a title can feel like an eternity in New York.
