BATU PAHAT: A smallholder has been remanded for four days after reportedly threatening to chase his wife with a parang over accusations of an affair.
Magistrate Aimi Nawwar Mohamad Othman issued the remand order against the 42-year-old suspect, effective today, to facilitate investigations.
The incident reportedly occurred at a house in Sungai Kalong, Senggarang, at 8.30am yesterday.
Police said initial investigations found that the suspect had taken a 62cm parang and chased his 37-year-old wife while making threats that frightened her.
The incident was witnessed by the woman's mother-in-law and child, following which she lodged a police report.
Police arrested the suspect yesterday to assist in the investigation, which is being conducted under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.
