Police have deployed an inspection team across Busoga East to assess officers’ preparedness, review case management and strengthen crime prevention following a series of aggravated robberies in the region.
Police in Busoga East have launched security inspections across the region as part of efforts to strengthen crime prevention and improve preparedness ahead of the festive season.
The Regional Police Commander has dispatched an inspection team to assess operational readiness across all districts in the region.
The team, led by Deputy Regional Police Commander SSP Ahmed Hasunira, is inspecting officers’ alertness, case management, sanitation, logistical supplies and general policing standards.
According to Busoga East Police spokesperson ASP Michael Kasadha, the exercise is intended to strengthen security at a time when criminal activity often increases during the festive season.
Kasadha said the inspections would help police identify operational gaps, improve officers’ preparedness, disrupt criminals’ plans and expedite the handling of case files involving suspects arrested for various offences.
The exercise also follows several cases of aggravated robbery reported in the region within a short period, raising the need for heightened vigilance and more effective crime prevention.
The inspection team has also emphasised community sensitisation, particularly among boda-boda operators and members of the business community, to improve public awareness and cooperation with security agencies.
Kasadha said unit commanders had responded positively, with sensitisation meetings already taking place across the region.
Police commended members of the public for providing information that has helped officers respond promptly to reported crimes and prevent further criminal activity.
“We commend members of the public for their continued support in the fight against criminality,” Kasadha said.
He urged residents to report suspicious activities and security concerns to their respective District Police Commanders (DPCs).
Kasadha also encouraged members of the public who are dissatisfied with the handling of their complaints at district level to escalate them to the Regional Police Commander (RPC).
“We also encourage all community members to report to their respective DPCs and to the RPC, where they are not served to their satisfaction,” he said.
Police said the inspections and community engagement activities are intended to strengthen accountability, improve service delivery and ensure officers remain prepared to respond to security threats during the festive season.
