Arteta insists Arsenal must earn the right to play in another Champions League final

১৩/১০/২০২৬

Mikel Arteta says Arsenal must earn their place in another Champions League final as they prepare to face Lille. Reaching the showpiece match again will require hard work throughout the campaign.

Arsenal finished top of the league phase last season and progressed to the final against PSG. They ultimately lost to the Ligue 1 side, but their run showed the quality required to reach the latter stages.

Arteta stresses the challenge ahead

Arsenal will hope to build on that experience, but last season offers no guarantee of another deep run. Lille are their next opponents, and the Gunners will need to approach the match with focus and intensity.

Arteta expects a difficult test against a well-coached side. Arsenal will face several challenging opponents on the road to the final, so they cannot take any team lightly or assume their previous progress will be repeated.

Finishing top of the league phase gave Arsenal a favourable route through the knockout rounds last season. To put themselves in a similarly strong position, they must beat Lille and keep producing results throughout the competition.

Arteta says Arsenal must earn their place

Speaking ahead of the match, Arteta stressed the work required to reach another final, according to Arsenal Media.

“[We’re] going to have to earn the right to get in that position again. We know how tough it is and how many times we’ve done it in the history of our club. “Tomorrow we’re going to have a really tough opponent in front of us. They are very, very well coached. What Davide [Ancelotti] has done is, I think, remarkable. You can just see the way that they are competing and playing and the problems that they have caused to big teams, and tomorrow is not going to be different until we are ready for it.”

Arteta’s comments underline his respect for Lille and his insistence that Arsenal must be ready from the start. Their previous campaign provides experience, but they must perform again to return to the final.
