He was fired by Providence Catholic after telling the school he would not resign.
Plantz says he was dismissed due to concerns to how the team's lower levels are being managed.
On Friday, ABC7 learned Plantz is now a volunteer assistant football coach at Mount Carmel High School in Chicago, according to the school's athletic director, Phil Seagroves.
Former players at Providence Catholic have been rallying behind Plantz. An online petition has garnered over 3,200 signatures, as of Friday.
Plantz had led the Celtics to two state championship games and an undefeated start this season. The New Lenox school's football team has lost two games since Plantz was let go.
