The Tampa Bay Buccaneers could be without running back Sean Tucker when they host the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, as the team continues to monitor his quad injury as they head into Week 6.
According to the Buccaneers' Friday press conference, head coach Todd Bowles confirmed that Tucker's availability will be determined before kickoff.
"We've got to work him out Sunday. That'll be a game-time [decision]," Bowles said.
Tucker did not participate in Wednesday's practice and returned in a limited capacity on Thursday and Friday. He carries a questionable designation on the final injury report, leaving Tampa Bay uncertain about its backfield rotation.
Through five weeks, Tucker has appeared in four games, recording eight carries for 28 yards and one touchdown, according to NFL.com. While his opportunities have been limited, three of his eight rushing attempts have produced first downs, highlighting his situational contributions.
Tucker scored his first touchdown of the season against Green Bay in Week 4, finishing with 10 yards on three carries. He followed that performance with five carries for 18 yards against Dallas, as Tampa Bay rushed for 241 yards in its first victory of the season.
With rookie quarterback Jalon Daniels preparing for another start, the Buccaneers will look to maintain that rushing production against Pittsburgh. Tucker's availability could affect how Tampa Bay handles short-yardage situations, although his limited workload makes it difficult to project a significant change in the overall offensive approach.
