The 1 thing Eagles’ Jordan Mailata blames for shorthanded offense flopping vs. Panthers appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
As the Philadelphia Eagles showcased a dreadful offensive outing in the 25-14 loss to the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, it came as a result of missing its key stars. With the Eagles needing back Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley, offensive lineman Jordan Mailata details an aspect that can help the team overcome the absences, as a timetable for return is up in the air.
With Barkley dealing with a hamstring injury and Hurts having a “superficial blood clot” in his calf, the feeling on when each will return is unknown. But for Mailata, the one trait that Philadelphia needs to have to help them is the “want-to.”
“Because they’re all individual mistakes. That’s why I think it’s like the focus, the lack of focus, and then you gotta have ‘want-to’ to focus. So if you’re lapsing in the moment…if you’re not focused in the moment, that’s like you’re not wanting to focus. That’s why I said the ‘want-to’ to be focused, the ‘want-to’ to understand your assignment, the ‘want-to’ to not cause any false starts, and you f***ing jump, try to jump the cadence because you got to call it,” Mailata said, via Eliot Shorr-Parks.

“You know, these are silly little errors that we can’t control,” Mailata continued. “And again, it’s something that we have to correct, and we have to want to correct. If it means staying back out to practice and getting these reps, that’s what it means.”
Jordan Mailata said one of the main issues on offense right now is “focus and want to”
He said that’s an individual decision for each player if they want to correct it

Jordan Mailata speaks more on the Eagles’ “want-to”
Mailata spoke more about the Eagles’ shorthanded loss to the Panthers on Sunday, saying how it “hurts” to lose this one, while continuing to emphasize the “want-to.”
“The only thing that comes to mind is ‘want-to,'” Mailata said, via Zach Berman. “That’s all stuff we can control. When it comes to the play, that’s out of our control. But your effort and the down is the only you can commit to. Don’t know how; gotta watch the film. But right now, that’s how I’m feeling: The want-to.”
At any rate, Philadelphia will look to display its “want-to” on Oct. 26 against the Dallas Cowboys.
