TAIPEI: Singer Kenji Wu dressed up as Spider-Man to help a father who has spent 18 years searching for his missing son.
He handed out more than 1,000 flyers to help bring wider attention to the case.
According to media reports, the 46-year-old artiste was spotted outside an anime convention in Xi'an, China, earlier this month.
He was giving out missing-person notices alongside Wu Xinghu, whose son, Wu Jiacheng, vanished when he was just 13 months old.
The singer learned about the father's heartbreak after watching the documentary I Want to Find You, which follows families looking for missing children.
Jiacheng was reportedly abducted from his family home by suspected human traffickers and would now be around 19 years old.
Spider-Man has a special meaning for Xinghu, as the superhero was his son's favourite character when he was little.
The father has spent years travelling across China dressed as Spider-Man, hoping his son might recognise him if they ever cross paths.
Wu donned the famous red-and-blue costume to help draw attention to the search, believing a well-known character would be hard to miss.
He hoped the unusual sight would encourage passers-by to pause, take a flyer, and remember the boy's face.
The singer also invited Xinghu to one of his concerts to raise awareness.
In a creative touch, Wu replaced the usual concert streamers with small missing-person notices, so the information floated directly down to the crowd.
The gesture touched concertgoers, with several fans offering to take extra flyers to spread the word.
Wu's efforts were also widely praised online, with many people commending him for using his fame to support a father's long search.
Reflecting on his charitable work, Wu shared how helping others brings him peace of mind: "Doing these things makes me happy. Many people think I am helping others, but when I do these things, they also heal me."
