Men's State pensions 33% higher than women's in Italy in 2025 - INPS

(ANSA) - ROME, 15 OTT - INPS said Thursday that women pensioners got an average annual State pension of 19,553 euros in 2025, while male retirees got 26,031 euros on average, around 33% more. The pensions-and-social-security agency said the averages for men and women rose from 25,712 euros and 19,140 respectively in 2024, adding that the overall average went up to 22,703 in 2025 from 22,331 the previous year. It said that 16,405,073 people drew State pensions here in 2025 and that, while 51% of the pensioners were women, they only took home around 44% of the total pension income. It said that over 4.5 million - 27.5% of the total - had State pension income of less than 1,000 euros per month last year. It said 2.8 million of those pensioners were women. At the other end of the scale, 477,654 retirees, 2.9% of the total, had State pensions of 5,000 euros or more per month in 2025. (ANSA).
