Salesforce is pursuing a $5.66 billion acquisition to strengthen its real-time marketing capabilities. For companies already using Braze, the deal raises a more immediate question: what happens to their contracts, integrations and data?
Salesforce announced on Oct. 20, 2026, that it agreed to acquire customer engagement platform Braze for approximately $5.66 billion in enterprise value. The agreement provides $47.50 in cash per eligible share of Braze Class A common stock, subject to the transaction’s completion. The acquisition would strengthen Salesforce Marketing Cloud with real-time messaging and AI-powered personalization technology used by approximately 2,770 Braze customers.
Braze has assured customers that existing contracts, support and integrations will continue. Future pricing and product integration plans, however, remain unresolved.
Braze brings real-time engagement to Marketing Cloud
According to Salesforce’s acquisition announcement, Braze coordinates personalized communications across mobile apps, websites, email, SMS and WhatsApp. Its customers include Canva, Dairy Queen, Instacart and Venmo.
Braze’s event-driven architecture adjusts communications as customer behavior changes rather than relying solely on scheduled campaigns. Its BrazeAI technology helps marketers select content, offers, communication channels and delivery times.
Salesforce expects Braze’s capabilities to complement Marketing Cloud and its broader architecture, including Data 360, Customer 360, Agentforce and SIForce. The proposed integration could link marketing campaigns more closely with customer data, sales and service operations, although no combined offering has been finalized.
Salesforce has also expanded its Google Cloud partnership to connect Agentforce with Gemini Enterprise and CRM data. Meanwhile, Meta’s enterprise AI expansion adds another competitor as major technology vendors push AI deeper into business operations.
The Braze acquisition still requires shareholder approval, regulatory clearances and other closing conditions. Salesforce expects completion during fiscal 2028, beginning Feb. 1, 2027, according to Braze’s merger disclosure. No specific closing date has been announced.
Existing contracts stay intact, but questions remain
Braze confirmed in customer communications filed with the SEC that current contracts remain unchanged and renewals will follow normal processes. Account contacts, security certifications and hosting arrangements are also unaffected by the announcement.
Existing integrations with third-party CRM and data platforms remain supported. However, Braze has not announced how those relationships will be handled after closing.
Pricing presents another uncertainty. Neither company has detailed future subscription packages or whether customers will need additional Salesforce products to access new Braze-powered features.
Data governance also warrants attention. Braze says customer information will continue to be processed under contractual terms and applicable law after closing. IT teams should review access controls, data-sharing requirements and dependencies before adopting future integrated services.
Salesforce has not published a definitive integration roadmap or implementation schedule. Braze co-founder Bill Magnuson intends to remain CEO after closing, with the company continuing to develop its platform under the Braze name.
The acquisition comes as AI-powered customer experience platforms increasingly combine automation with customer data and communications channels. Any deeper Salesforce integration will need to account for the systems businesses already depend on.
Existing Braze customers face no announced migration requirement, and their current agreements remain in effect. As the acquisition progresses, IT teams should monitor future licensing terms, integration support and data-processing arrangements before committing to new deployments.
