Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker has one of the richest contracts in NFL history amongst kickers as he makes $6.4 million annually through the 2028 season.
However, through five games this season, Butker posted one of his worst field goal percentages of his career. He's made 10-of-13 field goals at 76.9%. For comparison, last season, Butker missed five field goals in the whole season, and he's already halfway to that amount about one-third of the way through the season.
On Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers, Butker notably missed a 52-yard field goal attempt and one extra point attempt. His previous two misses this season were at 50 yards and 51 yards. The misses on Sunday didn't matter in the end, though, as the Chiefs won 22-6 to remain undefeated.

Kansas City coach Andy Reid doesn't seem concerned about Butker, though, despite the rough start to the season. He has confidence that Butker will get things sorted out.
“I’ve got trust in Harrison,” Reid said on Monday. “That’s the best I can tell you. He’ll fix whatever the problem is. He’ll fix it and get it taken care of. He works like crazy at that.”
The Chiefs will hope Butker can figure out what's going on from the 50-yard-plus range, because sometimes game results are determined by a single field goal. In his career, Butker's made 36-of-57 attempts from 50 yards or further. The longest he's made this season was from 50 yards, which is the lowest amount that's sat as Butker's season-high.
Butker won't want to be the reason the Chiefs lose a game. We'll see if his misses this week will fuel the fire from within him to get back on track.
