The central challenge for the construction and real estate industry this year was how to achieve housing stability by expanding housing supply, even as unstable international conditions deepened market uncertainty and worsened business conditions. Builders are pursuing a range of efforts to curb rising construction costs and prevent serious industrial accidents by overhauling production methods with artificial intelligence and robotics.
Those efforts are improving architectural culture and making daily life more convenient for residents of multi-unit housing. The companies and institutions honored at this year's Korea Construction and Real Estate Industry Awards were recognized for keeping pace with these changes by advancing their technologies and business models, and for contributing to housing stability for the public.
A larger housing supply and technological progress must translate into safe and comfortable living environments and, ultimately, a broader foundation for daily life that the public can rely on. I hope the achievements of this year's winners spread beyond individual projects to the industry as a whole, strengthening trust in and the competitiveness of Korea's construction and real estate industry. I also hope the government, taking note of these self-driven efforts by the industry, will consider forward-looking regulatory improvements to spur housing supply in the private sector.
