The Canada–Portugal Chamber of Commerce (CPCC) is organising a business networking evening at Taylor’s Port Cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia on 19 November, bringing together business leaders and executives to discuss innovation, sustainability and the future of the wine industry.
Hosted at the historic Taylor’s Port Cellars, the event will begin with a welcome reception, followed by a guided tour of the cellars and a Port wine tasting. Guests will then enjoy a seated dinner at 1828 restaurant, featuring a discussion and live Q&A with Adrian Bridge, Chairman and CEO of The Fladgate Partnership.
The discussion will centre on the theme “How to transform a century-old industry to meet today’s sustainability challenges while remaining a global leader.” It will explore how established industries can adapt to new challenges, embrace innovation and remain competitive while preserving their heritage.
The discussion will explore the links between wine, tourism and sustainability, drawing on Taylor’s experience and its involvement in the Porto Protocol, an international initiative that brings together the wine industry to share knowledge and take collective action on climate change.
Adrian Bridge has been instrumental in the development of The Fladgate Partnership, whose portfolio includes Taylor’s Port, Fonseca, Croft, The Yeatman Hotel and World of Wine (WOW), a cultural district in Vila Nova de Gaia dedicated to wine, gastronomy and Portuguese heritage.
Under his leadership, the group has expanded its presence in wine and hospitality while investing in new experiences that connect Portugal’s wine heritage with tourism and culture. These include The Yeatman, a luxury wine hotel, and WOW. Bridge has also supported greater collaboration across the wine industry through the Porto Protocol, which encourages businesses to share knowledge and take action on climate change.
Although the discussion draws on the wine industry’s experience, its themes are relevant to businesses across a wide range of sectors. As companies face increasing environmental pressures and changing market expectations, the challenge of balancing tradition, innovation and long-term competitiveness has become increasingly important.
Organised by the CPCC, the event aims to create opportunities for business leaders to connect while exploring ideas and approaches that can help companies navigate a changing economic and environmental landscape.
The evening will combine networking and discussion with an opportunity to experience Portugal’s wine heritage in the historic setting of Taylor’s Port Cellars.
