Sarawak police say the student suspect in the attack on a teacher at a Kuching international school is still in hospital, and the probe will consider his health.
KUCHING: The suspect in the case involving a student who allegedly attacked a teacher at an international school here last Wednesday is still receiving treatment in hospital.
Sarawak Acting Police Commissioner DCP Saifullizan Ishak said police would continue their investigation, taking into account the suspect’s health condition and subject to the advice and assessment of medical officers.
“Police wish to emphasise that the investigation is being conducted professionally, carefully and thoroughly, taking into account all relevant statements and evidence.
“Any further action will be taken based on the facts obtained and the provisions of the law,” he said in a statement today.
Saifullizan said that, so far, 24 individuals had had their statements recorded to assist in the investigation.
“Police take the sensitivities of all parties seriously, particularly the welfare of the victim and the student involved. The public is urged to respect their privacy and refrain from sharing their identities, photographs or personal information, particularly that of minors,” he said.
On Oct 21, Saifullizan said that a female teacher was injured after allegedly being attacked by a Form Four male student at the international school.
