All you need to know about the DV lottery
The post comes against the backdrop of reported legal developments surrounding the DV-2027 programme.
According to supplied material, a court order linked to a lawsuit against the US State Department has set specific deadlines for the registration process.
The State Department is reportedly required to announce registration dates and instructions by October 29, with registration itself expected to open on November 1 and remain active for a minimum of 30 days.
Selection results are reportedly required to be processed by December 3, with the entire visa process to be completed by September 30.
Prospective applicants should be aware of new requirements this cycle. The principal applicant is reportedly expected to provide valid passport details and upload a scan of the biographical and signature page of their passport.
A non-refundable electronic registration fee of $1 is also reportedly required at the point of submission.
Applications are submitted electronically through the official US government portal at dvprogram.state.gov, and no paper entries are accepted.
Only one entry per person is allowed, and submitting multiple entries may result in disqualification. Each eligible spouse in a married couple may, however, submit a separate individual entry.
Photograph specifications are strict: images must be in JPEG format, sized at 600 by 600 pixels, no larger than 240 KB, taken within the previous six months, and set against a plain, light background.
Eyeglasses are not permitted. After submitting an entry, applicants receive a confirmation page with a unique confirmation number, which should be saved in order to check results through the official website rather than through unsolicited emails or letters.
It is important to note that the court order underpinning this timeline could be appealed or stayed by the US government, meaning dates and requirements remain subject to change.
Applicants are advised to monitor official State Department announcements closely. The post attracted a lively reaction from Saroni's followers.

Don T Worry cautioned that winning the lottery is only the beginning, noting that travel facilitation costs and accommodation remain real challenges and adding that Kenya already has wealthy people and that moving abroad is not the only path to financial success.
Will the DV lottery be abolished?
TUKO.co.ke also highlighted facts about a bill introduced by Texas Rep. Keith Self to abolish the US Diversity Visa Lottery, and what it could mean for Kenyan applicants.
Nearly 4,000 Kenyans registered for the DV-2026 cycle, while the DV-2027 registration window remains closed amid a court dispute and a push to end the programme.
