Gleb Savchenko has weighed in on the latest Dancing with the Stars controversy, and declared himself “Team Val.”
To get us all on the same page, Val Chmerkovskiy was suspended from DWTS following an “Oscar Slap” comment he made that was aimed at judge Carrie Ann Inaba. Val’s since apologized, saying in part “Carrie Ann certainly didn’t deserve to get caught in the middle of my bad judgement, and I hate that she was.”
Cut to Gleb, who said on TikTok “I just watched Jenna and Harry’s samba, and I think it was a really entertaining dance. It was really cool. I don’t think it was like an OG samba, it was a bit flat-footed, it was like a hip-hop samba, but I tell you this, if I would be judge instead of Carrie Ann, I would never, ever call out that lift. Because it wasn’t a lift. It was a trick that has been done by true dancers helping Harry. We’ve seen it many, many times. We’ve seen it thousands of times…Jenna didn’t lift him, he didn’t lift Jenna, it wasn’t done in the couple, so I think it’s bullshit. It’s probably Carrie Ann just had to say something, because she’s the lift police on Dancing With the Stars.”
Gleb conceded, “She was just doing her job, creating a good TV moment” but then added, “I’d say Team Val on this one.…I think there’s some bullshit.”
Gleb has also spoken out against Val’s replacement, Alan. More on that below!
