There are growing fears within PSG that left-winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has ruptured the ACL in his right knee during Les Parisiens‘ 4-2 home win in Matchday 3 of the UEFA Champions League against FC Barcelona (4-2). L’Equipe reports that PGS are sweating over the fitness of the Georgian maverick, who played an instrumental role in leading PSG to two Champions League triumphs. Before the hour mark, Kvaratskhelia collided with Barcelona right-back Xavi Espart and immediately clutched his knee in serious pain.
The 25-year-old Kvaratskhelia could not put any weight on his right foot and had to be carried off the pitch. The winger will undergo an MRI on Wednesday to know the extent of his injury. But PSG are fearing the worst. L’Equipe adds that members of Kvaratskhelia’s entourage feared an ACL tear following initial tests. Should the early diagnosis prove true, Kvaratskhelia could be set for a 6-month spell on the sidelines.
